Greywalls was built in 1901 as an elegant holiday home for a dedicated golfer. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the house exudes Edwardian style, now complemented by a high standard of modern facilities. Greywalls still remains an architectural gem as well as a sportsperson’s retreat. Being uniquely situated on the edge of world-renowned Muirfield championship golf course which has played host to the British Open no less than 15 times. With 10 golf courses within a 5 mile radius of Greywalls this proves to be the perfect venue for anyone wishing to sample the very best of Scottish golf.


With gracious rooms the ground floor of the house provides flexible, elegant accommodation that can be arranged to suit your particular requirements. Relax in the elegant drawing rooms and delightful dining areas of the house.

The library provides a comfortable area ideal for relaxing after business or pleasure and the cosy bar is the perfect place to unwind and chat late into the evening.

There are a total of 23 bedrooms including Cottage Rooms which are located within a couple of minutes off the main building. Each tranqil bedroom is unique, with its own décor and antique furnishings with most rooms enjoying uninterrupted views either over Muirfield golf course, the Firth of Forth, or over the gardens and the gentle rolling farmland to the Lammermuir Hills. All provide the facilities of en-suite bathrooms, TV, WiFi and telephone.


The delightful walled gardens are attributed to garden designer Gertrude Jekyll who was profoundly influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement and was ultimately to became one it's leading exponents. Stroll the tranquil garden planted with herbaceous plants and shrubs, visit the many secluded seating areas to take in the sun, shade and fresh sea air. Croquet, tennis and putting are also available in the grounds.
